MaryLynn's Baptism Day

We had such a beautiful baptismal service. It was extra special because MaryLynn got to share it with a really close friend. We also had many sweet friends come to share this day with us.

This one of MaryLynn's best friends. It was so touching to see how much they enjoyed sharing this day.

I just love this picture of MaryLynn. She is so excited to be making this commitment. Doesn't her face just glow?

Here are the two children with their new "comforter"s. They were gifts from my mom as she talked about the Holy Ghost and how he can be a comfort in your life. This is one of my favorite pictures from that day. One of MaryLynn's best friends and one of mine!

Here is our family picture from that day. JJ is mad about something, but I guess it adds character to the photo. My mom came and my sister and her husband. My sister and my friend sang at the baptism and it was gorgeous.

I had so many comments about how special and personal the baptism was. I hope it is something that MaryLynn will remember all of her life. Thanks to all who participated and came. I know it will be a favorite memory of mine.

I love the idea of the comforters! I'm sure she and her friend will always remember this day. We get to baptize my 2nd oldest next March. BTW, love your shoes. :o) Have a great week!

Their baptism day was so wonderful! Joshua will always treasure the comforter, and the memories. I will always treasure our friendship and the special times we've shared - like this one.

When we were walking down in the cave in Texas, the guide talked to the kids and said, "All right, guys, you can go ahead." JJ walked right up to him and said, "Just so you know, I'm not a guy." I thought the guide was going to die laughing.

JJ commenting on the awsomeness of Grandma Haggard: Grandma is not just an adult. She's a Grandma.

Nathan, at the baseball game in Texas, was waiting for his chance to go get a snack. He leans to Brad and says, "When's halftime?"

JJ was tired of me telling her what to do. She said, "I like Grandma Reeve's house. It's the only place where nobody bosses me."

January 10
Brad just about died when Nathan came running in to tell us about the "homerun" that Dallas just got, putting them ahead in the FOOTBALL game.

December 09
Nathan was telling our family about playing his cello and he said,"I just stink." Then JJ sniffed the air and said, "I don't smell anything."

August 09
My mom just reminded me of something else JJ said in Utah. When mom stood up off the couch she exclaimed, "Wow, most people your age need help getting up!" I bet mom is feeling good!

On our camping trip, Nathan noticed the camp parking permit. He started laughing when he read, "Hang on, Rear view mirror!" Then he adds, "I'm coming to save you!"He cracks me up.

The kids received harmonicas during the family reunion and MaryLynn went to work writing a song. I thought the title was fitting our family gathering. She called it, "What's Wrong With You People."

JJ and Grandma were playing and JJ jumped into her arms. Grandma picked her up and said, "JJ, you are just too big." and JJ replied, "And you are just too old!" Oh, the joys of children!

While we were eating sandwiches at the cafe, JJ was surpised to see white bread instead of the wheat we usually eat. She turned to me and said, "Hey, this bread is cleaner than ours." Yup, I feed my children dirty bread.

July 09
After we learned about water at Camp Liberty, we went on a bike ride with the cub Scouts near the ocean. The bishop was being funny when he told MaryLynn to have a drink from the ocean. MaryLynn turned to him and quoted the fact I read from the book, "If you drink lots of salt water you can get really sick." I guess she learned something.

Nathan and MaryLynn were playing twenty questions the other day and Nathan was guessing. He was totally stumped with the animal that MaryLynn was thinking of. After he used up all his questions, she told him the answer was "humans." I laughed so hard. She got him good.

We were out to dinner the other night and JJ and I were playing tic tac toe. All of a sudden, she said, "Look, there's Jesus!" So, stupid me, I turned to look. While my back was turned she added her last O to make three in a row. That little stinker!

June 09
Nathan's friend was frustrated with him because he was always gone to baseball. He asked him how come he always had to go to baseball. Nathan answered, "Baseball is my life." (You could almost see the tears in Brad's eyes.)

If you ever wondered how trusting 5-year-olds are, here you go. JJ was practicing her batting and I told her she need to choke up a little bit (in case you don't know, that means to move your hands up on the handle of the bat). She paused for about a half a second then put her hand to her throat, stuck her tongue out and starting coughing. Ok, mom said to choke, so she choked!

May 09
Here's one on me: I have been bragging and talking about how good the gas mileage has been in my mini-van. I have been driving back and forth to school and getting about 32 miles to the gallon. Wow, huh? Yeah, the other day, I realized my odometer was set to Kilometers instead of Miles! Oops! Maybe I should leave it on kilometers and enjoy the 32!

At the baseball game the kids got cotton candy. MaryLynn was so excited when she realized that it "devours in your mouth!" I had to tell her the word was "dissolves," but I thought devours was cuter.

April 09
OK, so we are watching "Marley and Me," you know the one about the dog that gets into so much trouble that if it were my dog it would have been gone long long ago, anyway, we are watching the movie and not to give anything away, but the dog dies at the end, and all three kids and I are sitting on the couch crying. All of a sudden MaryLynn bursts out "I Am So Happy!" Of course we all burst out laughing and so we had tears running down our face and none of us could figure out if we were laughing or crying. That girl cracks me up.

JJ does wonders for my self-esteem. As we were walking out of school, I mentioned that the pants I had on had an old zipper that wouldn't stay up. She say, "Either that or your booty is getting too big." Thanks JJ!

We were talking to some friends and they were joking about doing something silly on the motorcycle. JJ says, "You could be badly injured." Then she turns to me and says, "What does injured mean?" And here I was thinking she was so smart using that big word correctly.

March 09
We went out to dinner after MaryLynn's Judo Tournament and JJ wanted to hold her medal. MaryLynn picked it up and petted it and said, "My precious." (I didn't know she had even seen The Lord of the Rings.)

Nathan had a friend spend the night on Friday. JJ took me aside and whispered in my ear, "He is very, very, very handsome." Oh dear--so it begins!

JJ was pretending to talk on the phone and she said, "Hello, my bald, handsome prince." (Bald and Handsome?)

This one isn't funny, but entertaining. MaryLynn was worried about her friend at school making friends with a new girl in the class. She said, "He is like a monkey. He grabs a hold of a branch with one hand. Then when he grabs another branch, he lets go of the last one." Pretty insightful, huh?

February 09
MaryLynn is turning into quite the entertainer. (I'm embarrassed to say that most of her 'material' comes from movies-as does this one.) Nathan needed to blow his nose at dinner, so I handed him a napkin. Then he noticed there were two. He held them up and said, "I don't need two." MaryLynn responded, without missing a beat, "One's for showin', ones for blowin'!" I laughed so hard, I had tears in my eyes.

MaryLynn was teasing Nathan and he said, "That was not funny!" and she responded, "Really? It made me laugh."

We were getting ready to leave the house with a friends, when she noticed JJ's shoes were on the wrong feet. I am not sure what she told JJ, but then JJ came to me and said, "Mom, I think my feet are on the wrong legs." Big Problem!

Yesterday, at Walmart the kids were all being crazy and I turned to JJ and said, "Come here, crazy girl." And without skipping a beat she turned to me with that evil glint in her eye and drawled "Crazy, am I?" (She learned that from Veggie Tales)

January 09
MaryLynn is making up her own jokes: 1) What did the strawberry say when he drank some orange juice? *Mmmm, that's SaaWEEEET!) 2) What did the cannon say when he shot his last cannon ball? *Blast you All!

We were going to a friend's house for New Years and JJ said she didn't want to go. When I asked her why, she said, "I don't want to go there. When I do bad things, they tell on me!" Nice, of course, if you didn't DO bad things, they wouldn't tell on you!
