I found this really cute pattern online for making Valentines Cards. I almost forgot to do it on Wed (the one day I'm not at school) because it ended up being a snow day, but the girls reminded me. Nathan didn't want to make any, so MaryLynn and JJ and I sat around the table and designed these fun flowers with tootsie pops.
I think they turned out really cute. They had a great time giving them out at school.
On Friday, I took the kids out of school for lunch time and we surprised Dad at work with balloons and a lunch for Valentines Day. I think he was really surprised, and the kids loved doing something special just for Daddy.
Later that night, MaryLynn and JJ and I went to see the Lion King Musical in Hartford. Dad and Nathan didn't want to go, so we made it a girls night. But, WOW!, did they miss out. The musical was fabulous. The girls were spell bound the entire time. My favorite part was when the lifesize (and I am not exaggerating) elephant walked onto the stage with a baby elephant holding onto it's tail. I don't know how they did the costumes and props, but they were so fantastic. We are so glad we went.
The girls wore their tiger and leapard costumes and everyone around us were jealous. We even had a girl about fourteen tell them that she wanted one, too.
I tryed to get them to take their coats off for the picture, but we were outside and it was really cold, so I didn't push it. We will always remember The Lion King!
On the way home, we talked about some of the differences between the play and the movie. I was really impressed with the parts of the plot that they picked up.
JJ loved seeing Simba's painted face, and MaryLynn liked the way Scar moved his head (it was really neat how he moved kind of snake-like that looked all sneaky).
I love that they wore their costumes to the play - awesome! It's like they play a kind of adapted wizards chess - that would totally work for me.
